The Train of Pain Rolls On

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

In the word of many a teen…OMG! Legs exploding! Lungs gasping for air! A bedraggled peleton returning to base in shards! Really, these hands can only grasp a cool beer, rather than give the play by play. I’ll leave that to the ToP blog: http://trainofpain.blogspot.com/
I’ll finish here by letting you all know how proud I am to be a part of GS AAB and how cool it is to roll Black.

Train of Pain Day One: Easy Day? Yeah Right!

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Todays ride took us from the sunny Golden Gate 88 miles up to Bodega Bay. Early morning fresh legs for some soon became lead sticks as many strong men succumbed to searing in-land heat, 15% bumps, and hubris. Some riders chased roadside wild game, others valiantly persevered. For what was supposed to be the easy day, turned out to be so many shattered legs, and tales of woe. El Jefe played his cards close and managed to pull out a “w” in the city limit sign finale. The name Cavendish and Lee were for once, heard in the same positive light at the same time.
Day 2: 99 miles. Ughhhh.

If we knew then what we know now....

El jefe rides the Train Of Pain

Your fearless leader may need to invest in some Depends as he has had the call to duty, riding 500 miles in 5 days. check the link here: http://trainofpain.blogspot.com/
Word on the street is that no racing of any kind will be tolerated, and Navy has no interest in bragging rights. Thus, I resolve to ride the whole event in my small ring, make sure I don’t exceed 20mph, and only bring one bottle of water per day.
