2016 Cannondale Trigger Carbon 1

Cannondale's Trigger Carbon 1 defines all-mountain. With a Ballistec carbon frame, your riding will accelerate to new heights. The frame features a 1.5-inch head tube, a rear thru-axle, and ESC-TC tech, so this rig is stout for incredible efficiency and pin-point handling when pushing it deep in corners. Trail-crushing suspension comes courtesy of Cannondale's exceptional 140mm Lefty SuperMax Carbon 2.0 fork, and Fox's plush DYAD rear shock with 140mm of smooth, controlled travel in Flow mode, and 85mm of efficient, traction-enhancing travel in Elevate mode. A bar-mounted lever lets you decide. Up or down, SRAM's 11-speed XX1 drivetrain, spun by HollowGram cranks, has the range to top any mountain, with the ferocious gear changes and DH-worthy chain management to encourage gutsy, full-zest descending. WTB Ci24 Carbon 27.5-inch rims are equally suited with light, stiff, and all-mountain tough traits, while the Cannondale Lefty front hub and Formula rear hub roll smooth. No matter the terrain, Schwalbe's tires hook up, and scrubbing speed has never been easier than with SRAM's Guide RSC discs, featuring adjustable levers and loads of smooth power. A selection of Cannondale's own ultralight components, a racy Prologo saddle, and a RockShox Stealth Reverb seatpost round out this genre-defining masterpiece.

    Comments:

I took the '17 Trigger Carbon 1 out for a weekend. If you want a fun, plush, smooth, capable - did I say FUN?? - do everything all mountain bike, this is your ride! 140mm travel front and rear was ample enough for smaller drops and stunts. The Lefty front end is very stiff. The Trigger is fairly light but rides like an even lighter bike. The carbon rims spin up really fast - I felt like I was climbing on a much faster bike. Rocks and roots are nothing to this bike - you barely feel them. The dropper post with remote is going to be a "must have" on any of my future mountain bikes. The cockpit is a little crowded, with the dropper remote and rear shock remote. Due to the design of the Lefty, the fork lockout is really easy to reach. The dual travel settings on the rear end were handy for climbs and smoother sections of trail. The bike didn't bob a lot under acceleration, although I'm a beefy guy and can move any bike with my leverage ;-) I'm not a fan of SRAM shifters - the drivetrain worked well, but I hate the rear shifter. The buttons are too close for my fingers. I wish there were more Shimano options for this bike. If this was all XT, I'd buy it now. This is not an XC race bike but would be great for enduros and long days in the saddle.
